The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) reports directly to the President/CEO and serves as a trusted advisor to the CEO, Executive Team, and Board of Directors. The CFO provides enterprise leadership across financial strategy, capital, and liquidity management, asset/liability management, regulatory compliance, and business intelligence, translating complex financial and operational information into clear, actionable insight that supports sound decision-making.
This role is responsible for ensuring the credit union’s long-term financial strength while balancing growth, risk, and member value. The CFO supports the Board’s fiduciary responsibilities and serves as a steward of BFCU’S cooperative mission, ensuring strong financial performance in service of first responders and their families.
Boston Firefighters Credit Union views finance as a strategic enabler of growth, not a constraint. The CFO aligns financial discipline with strategic priorities by setting financial direction, approving budgets and forecasts, managing capital and liquidity, and ensuring risk is well understood and managed as the organization scales.
The CFO provides direct oversight of Accounting, Treasury, Decision Support, and enterprise Business Intelligence, including leadership and development of the Vice President, Financial Reporting & Analysis, Business intelligence is a core responsibility of this role, with accountability for BI strategy, performance, framework, and partnership with IT to design, govern, and evolve data platforms, dashboards, and analytics.

Please submit a resume that demonstrates: Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership in finance, showing a clear trajectory of increasing responsibility and impact. This includes experience leading diverse financial functions, such as accounting, treasury, budgeting, capital planning, and financial systems, while influencing strategy and guiding teams. Credit Union experience required.
The salary range for this position is $225,000–$265,000 annually, with a target starting salary of $235,000.
