About
Robert joined the Virginia Credit Union board of directors as an Associate Director in 2018. He was elected as a Board member in 2019 and has served as Secretary/Treasurer of the board since 2021. Robert has been a member of the VACU for more than 35 years.
Professionally, Robert serves as Chief Executive Officer for ChildSavers a mental health and child development nonprofit agency in Richmond, VA serving 70 jurisdictions in the Commonwealth of Virginia. He has been an executive in the nonprofit sector for more than 25 years. He advised the Virginia Commissioner of Health on the state's polices regarding racial and ethnic health disparities, the distribution of health care facilities and the capture and analysis of public health data. Robert's early career began in the private sector with roles in sales and marketing at Corning.
He is a graduate of Amherst College where he studied political science with focus on southern Africa. He finished the two year Harold Wade post-graduate fellowship helping the college to understand and meet the needs of Black students. He completed post graduate studies in governance and leadership at the Darden School of Business - University of Virginia.
Robert was appointed by the Governor of Virginia to the Family and Children's Trust where he served as secretary of the board. Other voluntary activities includes 13 years of service on the board of Groton School his alma mater. He was named alumni of the year in 2016. Robert also co-led the first study of Black philanthropic giving in the greater Richmond community and was awarded the initial Philanthropic Legacy Award, now named in his honor by the Community Foundation of Greater Richmond.
Robert is married to Joyalin Mines Bolling and the father of two adults children and grandfather of five.
